Metaprints x Polygon AMA

Our CMO, Charles ‘Chas’ Stanton joined Polygon on their official Telegram in order to discuss the launch of the Metaprints Social Hub Pass, Polygon’s Social Hub experience and more! Below is a transcript of their conversation.

Chas: Great to be here, really looking forward to telling everyone about Metaprints and our amazing new Social Hub experience with @polygon

Chinmay: It is a great day and we have seen so much happening in these weeks that I’m really excited to learn about Metaprints!

I’ll be muting the chat for the AMA, we will resume after a few questions that you guys can ask!

Please tell us something about yourself, how your crypto journey started and what inspired you to start Metaprints. What is the relationship between Metaprints, Bondly, and Animoca?

Chas: Of course! First of all my personal journey into crypto started a couple years back — i’d always been following the industry since 2015 but never truly ‘dived in’ until 2020 and just fell in love with the potential of Web3, specifically NFTs

I’ve got a background in marketing for major brands in the UK

And Metaprints (thanks @MaxiBondly!) is a project incubated at Bondly, which is part of the Animoca Brands company.

The Metaprints investment round was led by Animoca and they’re heavily involved — it’s through our relationship with them that Metaprints can bring a truly uniue service to brands looking to enter the metaverse space — like Polygon!

Chas: I should add Animoca Brands have invested in 30+ metaverse projects in the last year alone. For these projects there are high art and creative costs to onboard brands, and for brands who wish to enter metaverses there is a high perceived barrier to entry. For the creators as well there is a lack of incentive for them to design assets for brands.Metaprints seeks to solve all of these challenges in one end-to-end solution!

Using our unique positioning as the innovation hub of the Animoca Family, we can provide brands with an easy one stop shop, helping them accelerate their presence in numerous metaverse ecosystems.

Chinmay: This is the part that I love about this space, the collaboration!

You won’t find any industry this collaborative, and the innovation that it brings!

Would like to know more about Metaprints and its features.

Chas: Agreed!

Metaprints is the gateway for brands to accelerate their presence in numerous metaverse ecosystems in one simple step. Metaprints helps brands establish their presence in the metaverse. We’re an end-to-end solution provider that assists with everything: land purchase/leasing, district planning, development, activation & engagement (increasing land value), and asset sales.

Chas: Haha, I know right?!

It’s such an exciting space and we’re so glad Polygon Studios are a part of it.

Chinmay: If I can ask a follow up on this, this concept seems really important for the metaverse and the web3 space, can you go a bit deep into importance of Metaprints?

Chas: Yes of course, ultimately we’re at the crossroads in terms of Web3 adoption by major brands and mass consumer markets — Metaprints is a metaverse infrastructure project designed to support brand journeys into the world of Web3 and the metaverse specifically. Essentially we’re the pioneers who will help the brands you know and love (including Polygon!) to be represented in the metaverse through unique experiences — which we’ll be diving into today

‘The future is now’

Chinmay: Yeah! Absolutely as we have already seen Nike, Adidas, Disney anad more brands getting into this, this concept comes first to catch the mainstream fire than others ????

Chas: Exactly, the floodgates have opened

but we’re still early, as they say…

Chinmay: Haha, yes indeed.

In the journey so far, what are the achievements in terms of partnerships, community and development?

Chas: Despite only having launched in Q4 last year we’re already so far ahead

We launched our Genesis NFT sale on 19th December 2021, selling 1,000 NFTs for each of 10 exciting brands initially centered around the crypto industry, including Polygon, Ankr, Bounce, Phala, and more.

Metaprints Genesis NFTs are branded asset ‘blueprints’ sold to buyers to facilitate the creation of 3D assets required in metaverse platforms by some of the best digital artists and animators. Genesis NFT holders also receive rewards equating to 20% of all sales of that brand’s assets in the metaverse, ensuring everyone through the chain including fans of each brand benefits from the model. Genesis NFT ownership also provides early whitelist access to asset sales from the brands they love.

We’ve launched two branded asset sales on The Sandbox, one for Chinese New Year and one for Valentine’s day with major sponsors including Coingecko, Animoca, Gate.io and more

Internally, what are you guys most excited about this week?

Chas: This week we’re announcing the whitelisting process for our upcoming Social Hub Pass sale, and there’s only 300 passes available for the Polygon branded experience so they’ll go quick…

I’ll explain a bit more about how that will work in a bit!

Chinmay: Got it!

Chinmay: You mentioned about Polygon branded experience, how has your experience been so far with Polygon and what made you choose Polygon in the first place?

Chas: Polygon Studios have been fantastic, for context we’ve had a partnership with polygon (as Bondly) for a long time, we’re very much aligned on the need for a fast and environmentally friendly L2 for our NFTs and Polygon is naturally the network of choice there!

Also Polygon is a pioneer in growing GameFi projects and the NFT industry, and the Polygon ecosystem comprises numerous awesome projects who are also expanding onto the chain like Decentraland and The Sandbox. With the collaboration between Metaprints and Polygon Studios, we would be able to integrate all these great elements into the metaverse, also giving holders an exciting opportunity to earn rewards from future sales of Polygon’s branded assets in the metaverse.

Chas: And the Polygon Studios team have been a joy to work with, we’re really excited about the branded experience we’ll be releasing on The Sandbox (first of all) with Polygon.

What are the recent developments in terms of the product? Are there any upcoming campaigns that you are focused on?

Chas:

Our biggest product focus right now are the Social Hub passes, and the upcoming sale

We are organizing a Social Hub Pass sale in May for our 10 Genesis brands, giving holders exclusive priority access to that brand’s customized branded experience within The Sandbox, including: (of course) Polygon, Ankr, Bifrost, Bondly, Bounce, Crust, Darwinia, Kylin, MANTRA DAO, and Phala

These passes will offer holders exclusive first access to the branded experiences within The Sandbox, but more than that you can actually help SHAPE it, and get a discount on future sales of Polygon metaverse items (for the first 3 sales) which could include things like vehicles, buildings and clothing

Represent your favorite brand in the metaverse!

Chinmay: What is a Social Hub Pass?

Chas: So in more detail, the Social Hub Pass is a bit like club membership, granting holders the following:

– Exclusive early access to a brand’s Social Hub experience in The Sandbox.

– Whitelist to upcoming sales for Polygon + 10% discount on a brand’s first three metaverse asset sales. Assets include avatars, vehicles, and items that can be used in the metaverse. More details to come.

– Governance rights on the creative direction of assets being created for The Sandbox.

*The 10% discount for each brand’s sale will be redeemed via ‘cashback’ in the token of purchase, airdropped to each buyer within 14 days of the sale. We are investigating solutions for applying discounts at point of sale in the future.

Chinmay: A lot in short!

What kind of Social Hub experiences can we expect? Do I need an Alpha pass to The Sandbox to access a Social Hub?

Chas: Haha, yes, a lot!

Users only need to hold a Metaprints Social Hub pass in their wallet to access the Social Hub of the 10 genesis brand projects within The Sandbox

There will be no need to hold a The Sandbox Alpha pass.

Each Social Hub is a collaborative effort between Metaprints, our partner brands, and the community. Our vision is to build immersive, interactive spaces where brands and fans come together. We’re currently exploring different types of activities, including:

– Live events like musical performances, AMAs, and industry conferences

– Interactive art galleries, museums, and culture festivals

– Scavenger hunts, exploration challenges, and mixed reality

– Collectable metaverse items that grant real-world perks, like discounts

– Solo, competitive, and co-op gameplay with achievements and rewards

The possibilities within the metaverse are endless. Being a Social Hub Pass holder gives you direct influence on shaping these experiences alongside your favorite brands.

How many Social Hub passes are available? Can Social Hub Passes be traded on the secondary market?

Chas: Initially, there will be ONLY 300 Social Hub Passes for Polygon community members. However, we may release more Passes depending on feedback from the community as well as the Polygon team.

And yes, the Social Hub passes can be traded on Opensea.

A little more about the brands available too.

The 10 brands will be: Polygon, Ankr, Bounce Network, MANTRA DAO, Kylin, PHALA, Bondly, Crust, Darwinia, Bifrost.

Each brand will get its unique Social Hub Experience, which would be an entirely new and innovative way for hardcore branded investors, fans and ethusiast to interact with each other and the company as a whole. Pass holders can network with each other and the specific brand’s team, participate in branded activities and events or just hang out!

Each Social Hub is a collaborative effort between Metaprints, the partner brand, and their respective communities. All brands’ social hubs run different kinds of activities.

Chinmay: Can you give us a preview of what the Polygon Social Hub maybe looks like in The Sandbox?

Of course, our first experiences are in The Sandbox but we’ll be expanding to other metaverses too.

You can purchase a Social Hub Pass in a few simple steps:

  2. Connect wallet and register for a whitelist spot
  3. On the sale date, purchase the Social Hub Pass from the Bondly website using $BONDLY or $MATIC

Q: How are the fees on the Metaprints platform?How are these fees used?

Chas: There are no fees on our platform, which is currently being built and is focused on our ‘Create to Earn’ model where we will be working with creator guilds and brands in a collaborative space to design these branded assets.

Q: Bondly was hacked before, how does Metaprints ensure the assets security?

Chas: Our contracts are all multisig and have been audited — naturally having gone through such a terrible event we’re extremely focused on security and more than most crypto companies we’re going above and beyond to keep assets safe.

Q: Could NFT achieve cross-chain on Metaprint?

Chas: Yes, one day! it’s much more complex than you’d think to create a truly cross-chain asset for the metaverse.
